FMUG Southwest – for anyone interested in FileMaker (or databases in general)

If you have even a passing interest in databases, bespoke software or FileMaker Pro from Apple, why not pay the FileMaker User Group (South West UK) a visit?

We meet on the second Monday night of every other month. It takes place in a pleasant pub just off the M5 junction 22, and is a friendly, open group that welcomes all comers and ability levels, from beginners up to advanced FileMaker programmers. In fact you don’t have to be a FileMaker user to come!

Topics for discussion include, but are not limited to:

  • FileMaker programming
  • Database design
  • Custom app creation for iOS, Mac and PC
  • Bespoke software for business applications
  • Improving admin systems, especially spreadsheets!
  • Business process rationalisation
  • What’s good on the menu at the bar(!)

FileMaker Pro discussion group

At the FileMaker User Group (South West) you’ll find answers to your programming problems, FileMaker tips, bespoke software design ideas and generally, a useful pool of information on all things to do with bespoke database design and programming. Or even just how to make vast improvements with your admin!

The attendees include professional FileMaker Pro programmers, enthusiastic amateurs, beginners and coders from other disciplines, such as PHP/MySQL/JavaScript/HTML/CSS, online marketeers, business analysts, management consultants and, on occasion, representatives from FileMaker and Apple.

At previous meetings we discussed ways of implementing calendars inside FileMaker, an iPad application for a surveyor and the new ‘selector connector’ – a method of building relational files. There was plenty of help for new users with their individual database requirements, questions and queries.
